The population of Oslo’s hippest neighbourhood is known for its discerning taste. Uniqueness and detailed craftsmanship are at the forefront of any business that opens its doors there. How could we make sure this choosy crowd was enticed by Oslo’s oldest bakery? By creating a space where trend meets tradition, serving fresh breads and pastries seven days a week.
Paramount to the design of the new location was that it would be a proud display of W.B. Samson’s heritage and passion for baking. We applied everything we learned over our five-year relationship with the Samson family to put a little tradition back into future-minded Grünerløkka.
Of course, we made sure the location’s nouveau flair would stand out. Along with a spacious on-site baking area where customers can watch the magic happen, we installed a beautiful, three-meter high soapstone fireplace and over 40 seating options. It’s the perfect place for chilling out the day after a party, or grabbing a coffee and pastry before working on the next great Norwegian novel.
As with the W.B.Samson Gardemoen project, we were hands-on from day one, working closely with the Samsons on everything from early site inspections to planning the layout, and the final installment of kitchen hardware, signs and bespoke furniture and fireplace.
