A nordic FAUNA

Project name
Fauna Identity
Year
2013

When chef Bjørn Svensson closed his previous Michelin-star rated restaurant Oscarsgate in 2012, a collective sigh of disappointment spread throughout Oslo. However, the wait was not long and in June 2013, Bjørn Svensson – accompanied by Jo Bø Klakegg and Anne Heggberget – opened the doors to the restaurant Fauna. Less that year after opening its doors, Fauna was awarded a Michelin star in march 2014.

Input

Through a recommendation by renown interior designer Helene Hennie, Work was approached by Bjørn Svensson and asked to assist on the naming and visual identity of his new restaurant. Big fans of his former restaurant Oscarsgate we were eager to take on the task. Bjørn was very clear on what he did not want and as usual we were very clear on the purpose of the identity – to confidently complement the restaurant´s calm and subtle atmosphere and underline the quality of the food and wine being served – we were in full agreement from day one.

Output

We started by meeting with Helene Hennie and her team of interior designers who showed us the interior sketches and color/material palettes. Secondly Bjørn shared with us his selection of distinct ceramics and delicate glassware that was sure to be a part of the experience as well. All of this helped define a visual identity that is clean and timeless, yet subtle and complimentary and sits nicely with the aura that greets you upon entry.

Outcome

In addition to the name, the "aged" brass signage, menus etc, Work also designed a responsive website, reflecting the restaurants sober yet playful atmosphere.
